Class Boat Fleet

Kaneohe Yacht Club has several Class Boat Fleets -- Cal 20, El Toro, Laser & 420s, ORF, and IRF.  which sail regularly most of the year.  New members are encouraged to join one of the fleets.  All of the fleets are anxious to invite you to crew in races.  This will give you an opportunity to experience the different types of boats.  If you wish to crew, please contact any of the fleet captains whom are listed in our monthly Tell tales, or any of the owners of class boats.  The fleets vary in size and activity, but all are mostly interested in finding new active skippers.

The El Toro fleet has scheduled races every Friday night.

All Class boat races start at 12:00, finish approximately 15:00 - 16:00, race in the areas between Kaneohe Yacht Club, Coconut Island and the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station.  For safety boats we have a pontoon boat called the 'Float Boat' and Pop Gillette.  Safety boats have VHF Radios and typically at least one crewmember has a mobile phone.  Each boat typically has 2-3 crewmembers.

On scheduled Sundays throughout the spring, 420s and Lasers are welcome to race in the KYC Classboat races. The start is at Noon and there will be three races a day around the harbor buoys. There is no entree fee for the series but to use one of the KYC's 420s, a reservation must be made for the boat through the KYC Office.
